I put it up on my RPI calculator, and if we go 4-3 over the final 7
games, with the games you would expect we might win, we will end up with
(about) a 45 RPI at BTT time. That many wins to go 11-7 isn't likely, of
course, but if the Illini can do it then I will start to believe in NCAA
chances. If we go 3-4, RPI is 58 or so and it will be a tough climb up
the bubble. Go 2-5 and we are NIT bound.
P.S. I do of course know that RPI rating is not really a factor, but the
things that go along with it are what are important. Vanderbilt is
a better win than we thought it might be, and Georgia not as bad a
loss. The Utah "bad" loss hurts, of course, but is somewhat offset
by the Clemson road win.
If we get wins over OSU, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan that
would give us three more top-50 wins and we look a lot better.
Six top-50 wins is enough -- then it is a question of how many
bids are open.
