Hey Chris,

I certainly have plenty of orange and blue koolaid left over from football
season!!!!!

Yes, we are young and we will have some setbacks. However I was pleasantly
surprised at what I saw. We've replaced Frazier and Meachem with quicker,
more athletic, and bigger guards. Yes, they are freshmen, but I think they
will come along quicker than normal. DJ will benefit greatly from his year
in prep school where they had a college hoops type of schedule.

Again, my big concern is the interior. Especially on the defensive end.
Tisdale and Davis are going to have to really work to push people out. If
they get into foul trouble who do we have? Semrau? Simpson? Keller?
Semrau may get some minutes just because we need a big body down low.
Simpson doesn't look ready yet. We know Bruce prefers to run 8 man
rotation. Although I think it could maybe be a bit more with the guards if
we decide to press sometimes.

It's just nice to see something positive in U of I athletics for a change.
Hence, my gulp of the koolaid. Oh, I broke the orange tinted sunglasses,
too. :-P

Todd

Hey Todd....methinks you are drinking too much O&B koolaid! :) :)

we do have some talent, but very young....should be a fun season, but it
will have it's disappointments and it's surprises do to alot of youth
playing.

I really home Davis and McCamey and Tisdales step up to the next level and
one or two of the young studs is a diaper dandy, that would be great.

Hey gang,

Wanted to let everyone know to cheer up. I went to the Orange and Blue
scrimmage yesterday and guess what? We have a basketball team! And we have
one with some real gamers, too.

My impressions:

1.	DJ Richardson is the real deal. He starts day 1. Needs to work on
his turnovers, but plays good defense, attacks the basket off the dribble
and can finish it too.

2.	I know some of you won't believe it. I wouldn't have if I hadn't
seen it with my own eyes. Alex Legion really can shoot the ball. 28 points
yesterday and many of them on long balls. If he can shoot like that it will
be hard to keep him out.

3.	We have a lot of shooters on this team. We won't have any trouble
scoring points this year I'm pretty sure.

4.	Interior defense could be an issue against a dominant big man.

5.	We need to get the ball into the post more.

6.	We actually ran some full court press yesterday and we played zone
for 1 possession (and gave up a 3 just as Weber says).

7.	Brandon Paul will play, Bertrand probably not so much, Griffey looks
like he has a shot at some time.

8.	If Bill Cole's minutes rest on his ability to rebound, he won't play
much.

I see starters as Richardson , McCamey, Legion, Tisdale, and Davis with
Paul, Keller, Griffey and Semrau off the bench. Our depth down low will be
a concern if someone gets in foul trouble. But I have to say I was pretty
impressed with what I saw. We have athletes again, and plenty of them.

Anyone else off the list go yesterday?

Todd S.
