[Oskee] Illini win

Well, thanks, Greg. I had no idea I had become so enlightened. I'll be
sure to inform my wife of my new title here at home! :-)

Anyway, I agree with you.Griffey has looked good. And even though I like
Tisdale, the freshmen all seem be in another gear that I'm not sure he can
keep up with. I hope he does because he's such an accurate shooter. But
he's got to do more on the rebounding end. A lot more. I have to say that
when we had a line up of Paul, Richardson, Davis, Keller, and McCamey.it
reminded me an awful lot of the '89 team. A little undersized underneath,
but very quick and athletic and pushing the ball all the time.

There will be a lot of games that are inconsistent, especially early on.
But I think the sky is the limit for these freshmen. Add in the next 2
classes to come and I suddenly don't care that our football team stinks,
because we're going to be a power to be reckoned with in hoops for years to
come.

Humbly,

Todd Sweet, Sage of Sages

I'd second that on Griffey. One of those "always around the ball" type of
players. Can't say i'm impressed with Tisdale. Should be shoving people out
of the way in the paint. Can't recall Legion playing but Richardson and Paul
impressed with their hustle and guile. Davis' had the quietest 17 rebound
game I can recall. I'd like to see him at the '4' and try Griffey at the
'5'. I thought those two with McCamey, Paul and Richardson was most
effective last night. To quote that sage of sages Todd Sweet, "thank
goodness for hoops season". :-)

I watched a bit of the game on espn360 last night, I also like what I saw of
Tyler Griffey, seems like he might take Semrau's minutes from my brief view
of him last night.

Well, thank goodness for hoops season. The Illini get win #2 tonight
against a pesky NIU team. The game was close and we didn't put them away
when we had the chance. Very sloppy play at the end of the first half.
Instead of closing out with a flurry we gave up 3 turnovers and a half court
miracle at the buzzer and let them get back in the game.

Still, a lot to be excited about. Brandon Paul is the real deal. 20 points
at half, then a goose egg for the second half, but I'm sure the guys were
tired as this was a track meet.

We need to stop the dribble drive better, and we have some real rebounding
issues when Davis is off the floor, but I think this team will definitely be
the type that gets better as the season goes along and hopefully we hit our
stride in March.
