I went to the game. Man, was Ed Hightower hearing it!
The officiating didn't decide the game, but it was ridiculously uneven. In
the second half, it was if the refs suddenly realized both teams were
beating the hell out of each other. They basically ignored it in the first
half and suddenly everything was being called. The intentional foul called
on Meachem at the end was laughable.
What really killed the Illini was that they could never get two players
going simultaneously. Davis carried the team in the second half and Tisdale
may have as well stayed at home. In the second half, Tisdale goes crazy and
Davis only had two points.
