Yes, it was definitely the most complete game I have seen from us this year, and is encouraging, but I'd like to see us put together a complete game on the road before I'm convinced of real progress. I know, I know, baby steps :-). Jordan had a couple of nice shots, which was probably the biggest surprise for me. Honestly, everyone looked pretty good, and that's definitely the first time I've seen that this year.
I strongly second Todd's relief in finally having some scoring on the team this year. Honestly, I'm really beginning to wonder if Legion is going to see much time at all this year. About all he offers is strong perimeter shooting, and even that has only shown up in practice. He makes poor decisions too often, and is not a defensive threat. It's fortunate we don't need him as much, but I sort of feel bad for him.
Oh, and add me to the list of people that had no idea Vandy was ranked before I sat down to watch. Clearly they should not have been, nor will they now be as of next week. The rankings are a real crapshoot this early in the season.
Let's keep this train rolling!

Except for Jenkins getting hot late it was a good defensive effort; that guy was unconscious in the second half and should have been identified after the first make but he kept getting loose. That's why you play these early non-conf. games-to help your team come together in time for the B10 season. By the way, did anybody else not know Vandy was ranked 24th in the country before last nights game? Although the game got close I never thought for a second it was in doubt because of the talent difference. We must be a top 15 team. ;-) Tisdale seems to be communicating more with the refs and Davis seems much more assertive on the glass.

Definitely a better defensive effort than we’ve seen. Tonight was a step forward for the team. They still need to work on crashing the boards better and we had a few really stupid turnovers when we should have pushed the lead out. I’m going to assume tonight’s FT performance was an aberration. Coach Weber seemed pleased with the effort in the post game comments.
I have to compliment Bill Cole yet again for how hard he is playing. The best thing he can do is turn himself into this team’s Lucas Johnson.
One last thing…it sure is nice to have a basketball team with good shooters on it again. I could watch Tisdale shoot that jumper all night. DJ, Brandon, Demitri…everyone seems to have a really nice stroke. What a relief from last years root canal games!!!

Demetri McCamey made Ft's late and the Illini hold off the Vandy
Commodores. Vandy tried to get back in the game when they
Cut the lead to 7 but the Illini nailed 3 treys and wasn't
Threaten again. D. J. Richardson made some great shots in the second half.
GO ILLINI
