So true about KS needing to scramble now with the top returning prep in
the state making a run for the border.
Although Fort Wayne fans probably lean IU, the Hoosiers have never had
a direct pipeline to the top city players. Jim Masters to Kentucky in
the early 80s signaled the beginning of a trend for Mr. Basketballs to
leave the state. Fort Fun has actually sent more quality players,
football and basketball, to Purdue than any other school.
Several local organizations have had KS in for fundraisers during the
past year. It must sting to have Thomas make a decision so quickly.
Kelvin's honeymoon has about nine months left because this squad may
consist of the best talent he's ever going to have.
I don't know about the academic situation. The "good academics" line
probably is a tad bit disingenuous for these one and done players. Ohio
State and Matta are probably selling the "fast track to the NBA" angle
whereas we're probably selling a longer term package involving "getting
a world class degree and being better prepared for immediate success in
the NBA four years from now" angle. Unfortunately, the kids want
instant gratification.
Gee... I was hoping the same last name and same high school thing would
have meant more to DeShaun when it came to giving the Illini a look!
Time for J. Rich and J. Jordan to turn up the heat on Marcus. OWW!

If you say that academics are the reason you're going to Ohio State
over damn near ANY other school, that tells me a lot. Virtually the
same thing as commiting to Duke for a non-existant program in
Architecture.
For all its faults, IU is better academically. Purdue probably doesn't
have to take a second seat to OSU either. Why not just come out and say
"Thad's going to take care of me"??
In the end, it doesn't matter what he says. He's going elsewhere, and
that's that. The good news is that we have our own star soph to be. On
the day this kid graduates from college the odds are far greater that
Bruce will be at Illinois than Thad being at OSU. The other good news?
This will keep Kelvin busy trying to pry his in-state kid away from the
Bucks, and that means he'll have less time to recruit our commits.
